Trade Tech Windows & Doors is committed to supplying high-quality PVC-U, aluminium and associated window and door products.

This guarantee applies to products supplied by Trade Tech on a supply-only basis to trade customers, builders, developers, contractors and professional installers.

Guarantee periods commence from the date of manufacture/supply unless otherwise confirmed by Trade Tech in writing.

1. PVC-U & Aluminium Products

Trade Tech guarantees fabricated PVC-U and aluminium window and door products against manufacturing defects for a period of 10 years.

Products must be correctly transported, stored, handled, installed, operated and maintained in accordance with:

• The relevant manufacturer’s instructions;
• Applicable Building Regulations;
• Relevant current British Standards;
• Current recognised industry guidance; and
• Accepted good installation practice.

Failure resulting from incorrect installation, adjustment, storage, handling or maintenance is not covered.

2. Insulating Glass Units

Insulating glass units are guaranteed for 10 years against premature failure of the sealed unit resulting from a manufacturing defect.

The guarantee does not cover:

• Glass breakage after delivery;
• Scratches or physical damage occurring after delivery;
• Thermal fracture resulting from circumstances outside the manufacture of the unit;
• Damage caused by incorrect installation or glazing;
• Building or frame movement;
• Impact or misuse; or
• Minor visual imperfections that fall within recognised industry standards and tolerances.

3. Hardware

Hardware fitted to products supplied by Trade Tech is guaranteed against manufacturing or operational failure for 1 year.

The guarantee does not cover failure resulting from:

• Incorrect installation or adjustment;
• Excessive force, misuse or abuse;
• Accidental damage;
• Failure to clean, maintain or lubricate moving components;
• Building movement or distortion;
• Exposure to corrosive chemicals or substances; or
• Coastal or marine environments, including salt spray, unless suitable hardware has specifically been supplied for that environment.

Moving hardware should be inspected, cleaned and lubricated at appropriate intervals and at least twice per year, with more frequent maintenance where environmental conditions require it.

4. Integral Blinds

Integral blinds and blinds within glass are guaranteed for 1 year against manufacturing defects and operational failure under normal use.

Damage resulting from misuse, excessive force, incorrect operation, impact or modification is excluded.

5. Installation Responsibility

Products supplied on a supply-only basis must be checked by the installer before installation.

The installer is responsible for ensuring that:

• Product dimensions and specifications are suitable for the intended opening;
• Products are installed correctly;
• Appropriate fixings, packers, sealants and installation materials are used;
• Products are correctly glazed, adjusted and commissioned;
• Applicable Building Regulations and installation requirements are met; and
• The finished installation is suitable for its intended application.

Trade Tech cannot accept responsibility under this product guarantee for defects or failures caused by incorrect installation or work undertaken by third parties.

6. Inspection on Delivery

Products should be inspected promptly following delivery or collection.

Any visible damage, shortages or obvious manufacturing defects should be reported to Trade Tech in accordance with our applicable Terms & Conditions of Sale and Delivery/Inspection requirements.

Products should not be installed where an obvious defect has been identified without first contacting Trade Tech.

7. Guarantee Claims

Any suspected manufacturing defect must be reported to Trade Tech in writing as soon as reasonably practicable after discovery and within the applicable guarantee period.

Trade Tech may request:

• Photographs or video;
• Original order/invoice information;
• Details of the installation;
• Maintenance information; and/or
• Reasonable access to inspect the product.

No third-party repair or replacement work should be undertaken where reimbursement is expected without prior written authorisation from Trade Tech.

8. Remedy

Where Trade Tech confirms that a product or component has failed because of a defect covered by this guarantee, Trade Tech will, at its reasonable discretion:

repair the defective product/component; or

provide a suitable replacement product/component.

Where the original product, colour, finish or component is no longer available, Trade Tech may provide a reasonably equivalent alternative.

9. Labour, Removal & Reinstallation

This is a supply-only product guarantee.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, the guarantee does not include costs associated with:

• Removal of defective products;
• Installation or reinstallation;
• Installer labour;
• Scaffolding;
• Access equipment;
• Cranes or lifting equipment;
• Making good;
• Plastering;
• Rendering;
• Decorating; or
• Other consequential works associated with accessing, removing or replacing the product.

Nothing within this section excludes liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. General Exclusions

The guarantee does not cover defects or damage resulting from:

• Incorrect storage, handling or installation;
• Misuse, neglect or accidental damage;
• Failure to maintain the product;
• Building movement, subsidence or structural defects;
• Work or damage caused by other trades;
• Modification after manufacture;
• Exposure to abnormal environmental conditions;
• Fire, flood, storm or other events outside Trade Tech’s reasonable control;
• Fair wear and tear; or
• Cosmetic characteristics that fall within recognised manufacturing or industry tolerances.

11. Geographical Coverage

This guarantee applies to applicable products supplied by Trade Tech and installed within the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

12. Terms & Conditions

This guarantee should be read in conjunction with the applicable Trade Tech Terms & Conditions of Sale.

Nothing within this guarantee excludes or restricts any liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
